Museums with exclusive bookings

It´s the setting that counts: munich museums as event locations

Munich's first-class museum landscape is famous all over the world. But what isn’t so well known is that some of these museum rooms can be hired for events. Top-class works of art or groundbreaking scientific discoveries – whatever the surroundings, a corporate event in one of the seven museums described below offers a truly exceptional atmosphere.

1. German Hunting and Fishing Museum

On the trail of the wolpertinger
The space is impressive in itself: the Hunting and Fishing Museum is located in what used to be St. Augustine’s, one of Munich’s oldest stone churches at over 700 years old. 2o m ceilings, sacred-looking stucco elements and filigree lead glass windows create an atmosphere that is as sublime as it is solemn. Numerous exhibits from several centuries of hunting and fishing add to the extraordinary atmosphere. Two rooms can be hired here: the beautiful Apse for somewhat smaller occasions, e.g. standing receptions and award ceremonies with up to 60 people; and the White Hall for events with up to 250 people.

Besides its magnificent rooms, this museum also stands out for its great location in the middle of the pedestrian zone and just around the corner from the famous Frauenkirche. And how about this for a little extra pomp? The museum staff will be glad to put you in touch with a group of hunting horn blowers.

2. Villa Stuck Museum

In the splendor of the painter prince
Villa Stuck in Bogenhausen is considered to be one of the city's most beautiful architectural monuments and enjoys an international reputation for its exhibitions of 19th-21st century art. The people of Munich love the villa not only for its varied exhibitions, but also for its lively summer festivals.

While the exterior is in a strict neoclassical style, the interior is characterized by Franz von Stuck’s extraordinary spatial art and behind the house there’s an antique-style artist's garden. This all adds up to a setting that is second to none, offering the best possible preconditions for an unforgettable event. Some 25-100 people can be accommodated in the foyer and the artist's garden, and special historic rooms are also available on request.

3. Kunstlabor 2

Plenty of room for new ideas
Got big plans? Kunstlabor 2 in Maxvorstadt might be what you’re looking for. What used to be a health department building is now one of the largest interim cultural locations in Munich. The walk-in installations, pop-up galleries, art studios, and creative workshops are spread over nearly 10,000 m2 of space on six floors, and there is over 5,000 m2 outdoors as well.

In this inspiring environment you can hire a wide variety of event spaces ranging from a 400-m2 showroom to numerous smaller break-out rooms and two spacious and combinable courtyards. Kunstlabor 2 not only has ten rooms for up to 400 people but also offers to organize a supporting program, e.g. a graffiti workshop or lectures by speakers from the world of art and culture. An in-house catering service can also be booked.

Adress: Dachauer Straße 90

4. Deutsches Museum

A palace of research
Are your event participants keen on technology and science? You can make their dreams come true with an event at Deutschen Museum. The impressive building on Munich's Museum Island in the River Isar is one of the world’s largest science and technology museums and has been making the hearts of inventors young and old beat faster since 1925.

Even Microsoft founder Bill Gates couldn’t miss the chance to visit Deutsches Museum when attending the 2023 Munich Security Conference. Deutsches Museum has three locations that can be hired in and around Munich: the Forum on Museum Island, the Transport Center with its historic exhibition halls on Theresienhöhe, and Flugwerft Schleißheim, a historic airfield. So, there’s a suitable venue for almost any kind of event, regardless of the format, size or occasion.

5. Haus der Kunst

Experience history
Haus der Kunst was once commissioned by Adolf Hitler to create a House of German Art. The range of exhibitions in the Nazi era was thus limited to art that was in line with the Nazi propaganda guidelines. Nowadays, just the opposite is the case, as Haus der Kunst has no collection of its own but excels with differing exhibitions of world-class art.

The stately 385 m2 Terrace Hall can be hired, and the 2,000 m2 West Gallery with room height of 12 m is available for even larger events. You can also hire the 800 m2 North Terrace with its unobstructed views of the English Garden and Eisbach.

Adress: Prinzregentenstraße 1

6. MVG Museum

In historic halls
The MVG Museum in the south of Munich is a listed building that once housed a war metal works and the main streetcar workshop. Nowadays, this museum gives visitors the chance to explore the 130-year history of Munich's public transportation system, including historic vehicles and a subway simulator.

The gigantic hall, where the exhibits include historic streetcars, can be hired for events with up to 750 guests. The head building is available for smaller events and offers a charming setting with its walk-on connecting bridge and beautiful galleries. A charming 20-seat cinema is ideal for small-scale presentations and on request, workshops can also be held in the historic streetcars and buses.

Adress: Ständlerstr. 20

7. Beer and Oktoberfest Museum

Education – relationships – beer
What is Bavaria and particularly Munich famous for all over the world? You’re right: the Oktoberfest and beer. Luckily, you don't have to first drink your way through the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum but can really enjoy it sober. After all, in Munich's oldest surviving town house, where craftsmen once lived in the 14th century, you encounter a mixture of Gothic art and late Roman architecture.

Following reconstruction work in 2005, you can now admire historic brickwork and medieval ceiling paintings in the various Museumsstüberl rooms, three of which can accommodate up to 45 people. Besides the historic rooms, another special feature of this museum is that you can not only book a guided tour but also enjoy a beer tasting session. And here, of course, the focus is not only on how beer is brewed and its history, but above all on how diverse beer can taste.
